As part of the Taylor’s Lookout neighbourhood on the slopes below Cypress Mountain, the Aerie consists of eight luxury residences with panoramic views over Vancouver and Georgia Straight.

Tucked into the hillside, a large part of the project addresses the challenges of building on a steep slope and creating pedestrian accesses to the various entries around the building. Once the grading challenges were overcome, the focus of the design is to enhance and frame the views by strategically locating the plant material. The overall site design includes well-defined outdoor areas and generous decks to enable residents to take full advantage of the views. The building is nestled into the forest landscape and indigenous planting shapes the transition to the surrounding coastal forest. Finally, as typical for many of our projects, rainwater is collected in a cistern and used for for irrigating the terrace planters and portions of landscape built over slab.
