With an aggressive 3-1/2 year schedule, Durante Kreuk was hired by Millennium Developments to work together with the City, a team of architects and several contractors to design and construct the private parcels in what would become Canada’s first LEED Gold Neighbourhood.
The landscape architects led the design of a fully integrated rainwater collection and treatment system for reuse in the irrigation system, water features and toilet flushing. Using rainwater features and urban agriculture as a base, a network of socially integrated courtyards was designed to give all residents access to their own “back yards” in a highly urban environment.
